Odinga called on Kenyans to choose leaders who will move the country forward (File)
Prime Minister Raila Odinga Sunday challenged the church to maintain its push for reforms in the country by demanding full implementation of the new constitution.
The PM stated that the church has always been associated with the fight for change and should remain steadfast on this course to liberate Kenyans from forces of impunity.
He said that the new constitution holds a lot of promise for Kenyans but will remain a mere piece of paper if it is not fully implemented.
"The new constitution will be meaningless if it's not fully implemented to help the people of this country'', said the PM.
He was addressing worshippers of St Mathews ACK church in Eldoret town.
"The church has always remained a voice of reason in the society and should not relent in its quest for the full implementation of the constitution'', he said.
Raila asserted that the late Bishop Alexander Kipsang Muge, whose remains were interred at the church compound, bought the freedom Kenyans were currently enjoying with his life.
"We must team up with the church and guard the freedom that Kenyans enjoy today because this did not come easy. It cost the lives of freedom champions like the late Bishop Muge, Martin Shikuku among others".
He called on Kenyans to choose leaders that will move the country forward adding that without which the war against poverty, corruption and impunity will remain elusive.
Elsewhere Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi  hit the campaign trail to Narok County to appeal to the Maa community.
Mudavadi who shared the platform with RBK leader James Ole Kiyiapi who is also vying for the top seat promised to resolve longstanding issues affecting the locals including the emotive land issues.
He promised to work with likeminded leaders to address the myriad of challenges facing the local residents.
On the other hand Ole Kiyiapi welcomed Mudavadi, asking the DPM to campaign in the region freely.
He emphasized the need to maintain peace during campaigning period through the actual electioneering period.
FORD KENYA leader Moses Wetangula was in Naivasha where he opened his party's office in a bid to popularize the party.
Wetangula hinted to a merger with other political parties with manifestos similar to his in the run up to the 2013 elections
And in Kirinyaga, Presidential aspirant Mutava Musyimi said the country has experienced tribal clashes every end of an election cycle since 1991 saying that the recent killings of innocent people in Tana River Delta and Northern Kenya  was very worrying.
The Democratic Party flag bearer said the voice of the church was missing in managing the affairs of the country and urged the clerics to take up leadership roles to give the country the much needed guidance.
"Christian leaders must take an active role in politics of this country because right now the voice of the church is missing in critical matters," said the former cleric.
