LENANA SCHOOL closed indefinitely

Monday, August 7, 2012 - Yesterday students from Lenana School demonstrated along Ngong road against the death of one of their students who was hit by a lorry that strayed to a footpath used by the students.

John Kamau Njenga a form two student was ripped off his young life by a lorry driver last week who escaped from the incident moments later.

Witnesses said the lorry lost control and swerved to the foot path that leads to a foot bridge connecting the tuition and dormitory areas in the school. The lorry did not stop after hitting the boy but sped away. Some witnesses took the number plate of the lorry.

When students and the school administration sought the arrest of the truck driver, they were turned away by authorities in Nairobi leading to the demonstration yesterday. The students sought justice for Kamau’s murderer.

News just in indicates that the students have been sent home indefinitely today morning following the demonstration yesterday that caused a major traffic snurl along Ngong Road and to avoid another major demonstration because of the building tension.
