We CAN’T produce a President, so vote for RUTO - Mwakwere

Wednesday July 18, 2012 -Environment Minister Chirau Ali Makwere has said that the Coast Province will never and cannot produce a president in the forthcoming general election.

Speaking during a United Republican Party (URP) rally in Chonyi on Tuesday, Mwakwere said the province has few registered voters than other provinces and coast province cannot have a bargaining power to produce a president.

“Many people have been asking me why am not vying for the presidency. Just do a simple calculation and you will find that there is no way a candidate from Coast can beat William Ruto who has all the support from Rift Valley province,” Makwere said.

The Minister who is also the Matuga lawmaker, asked voters from the area to back his bid to be Ruto’s running mate and stated that for the province to take part meaningfully in the leadership of the country it must be involved in the making of the next government.

The Matuga legislator asked Coastal residents not to be misled against voting and urged them to vote as a block.

“We have to be part of the next government so do not be misled not to vote because the only way to end the marginalization we have experienced for long is to have visionary and focused leaders who will fight and defend our rights,” Mwakwere said.

Mwakwere is mentioned as a likely running mate of Eldoret North legislator William Ruto in the upcoming general election.
