Uhuru and Ruto SHOCK! Imanyara launches book

Friday July 13,2012 - Just a day before Miguna Miguna launches his autobiography,Peeling Back The Mask, Imenti Central MP Gitobu Imanyara has launched a book,'Prosecuting Justice for Victims of Post-Election Violence: Why The Hague Option.

Speaking at the Stanley Hotel on Friday during the launch, Imanyara said he cast doubt on the possibility of Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto of contesting for Kenyan presidency in the upcoming general elections.

The outspoken legislator said Uhuru and Ruto fall short of the demands of Chapter Six of the Constitution on Leadership and Integrity, saying that they are not supposed to go for the top seat since it will be against the wishes of many Kenyans.

“Public officers must demonstrate respect for the people of Kenya, bring honour to the nation and dignity to the office and promote public confidence in the integrity of the office," Imanyara said.

“Somebody who has been charged with murders and rapes should not be elected to serve in any public office,” he added.

“You need not to be facing a criminal offence to be barred from leadership. The demands of the Constitution and the value of Chapter Six specifically goes further and broader than that,” the brilliant lawmaker said.

"But the final court of justice is the people of Kenya."

The book has been co-authored by the International Centre for Policy and Conflict.
