The Standard finally apologizes to Miguna Miguna and Elderkin

Wednesday, July 18, 2012 - Following the launch of the book “peeling back the mask’ by Miguna Miguna, Sarah Elderkin a journalist who supports Prime Minister Raila Odinga, wrote a vicious statement which was published by the Daily Nation Newspaper.

The Standard Newspaper however was fooled to believe that Miguna Miguna had given a response to the nasty article by Elderkin and was later advised to withdraw the said rejoinder by blogger Dennis Itumbi.

On his blog he gave a statement which he said was a statement from Miguna Miguna, what The Standard Newspaper failed to look at was actually rereading the online posting which was rather clear it was not Miguna who had written the statement.

David Ohito, the online editor was put on a rather compromising situation as he has to explain to the nation how he overlooked some small details and believed that the statement was true and actually published it.

Ohito has however published an apology on the same and we quote:

“Following the statement disowning Miguna Miguna’s Facebook account, we wish to apologize to our readers and Mr. Miguna Miguna for erroneously misrepresenting his views. The standard digital also takes this early opportunity to apologize to Ms. Sarah Elderkin for any embarrassment caused by the article. There was no malicious intention in publishing the article.”
