The NHIF scandal and others are STEALING schemes for campaigns

Monday July 23, 2012 - Gachoka MP and presidential hopeful Reverend Mutava Musyimi has asked the Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission (EACC) to compel all presidential hopefuls to disclose the sources of billions of shillings they are spending on the ongoing political campaigns.

Speaking in Mombasa County on Sunday during his presidential campaign, Musyimi said so much money has been poured into presidential campaigns and demanded that those behind it be exposed.

“Where has this money coming from? There is so much money for the campaigns and many of us have no access to it,” Mutava complained.

Mutava said all the presidential aspirants should be vetted on how they are getting the campaign resources from, because some of them are looting public resources to fund their campaigns.

He said that the recent corruption web in the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) was part of a wider scheme to steal money to fund campaign machinery of a major presidential candidate.

Mutava expressed confidence that he will be the next president of Kenya after President Kibaki exits early next year.
