Taking over Raila's women group? NO - Ida Odinga FIGHTS

Wednesday July 18, 2012 - Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s wife Ida Odinga has dismissed claims that she is seeking to control her husband’s presidential campaign by sidelining ODM women reloaded team.

In a statement on Tuesday evening, Mama Ida said she recognizes the role the women MPs and other ODM have played in her husband’s presidential quest and she cannot undermine them.

“At the Bomas of Kenya, I paid tribute to all women who were there and especially legislators for the role that they have played in the PM Raila’s campaign and I meant every word of my statement .I cannot now turn around and start chasing them or locking them out," emotional Ida said.

Ida was referring to the Saturday incidence where she almost fell out with nominated MP Rachael Shebesh during the ODM national women conventional after pushing for her candidate illegally against Shebesh’s candidate.

However Ida denied the scuffle between him and Shebesh, accusing some people of mudslinging her name for political interests.

“I was offered the position of a patron to the ODM national women league but I declined it since the position is non-existent in the party constitution and thereafter, some people decided to misuse my name,” Mama Ida said.

Mama Ida said she respects every woman in the country and she is committed in making sure democracy is followed in the country when her husband clinches the presidency early next year.
