Ruto speaks of plot to stop Raila in poll

Leading presidential hopefuls yesterday intensified their campaigns in various parts of the country with URP presidential hopeful William Ruto hinting at a possible working formula with Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta in a bid to lock out Prime Minister Raila Odinga in the general election. Yesterday, Ruto wounded up his campaign in Maasailand with a message that Raila cannot be trusted to lead the country. He accused the PM of having no agenda for Kenyans saying he has failed to address the issues affecting the common man. The Eldoret North MP said the general election will be contest between performers and non-performers. "We will ensure that Raila does not win the election," he added. 
Speaking in Ngong town before flying to Embu, Planning assistant minister Peter Kenneth said  the campaigns should focus on who can deliver a better life for Kenyans. He urged Kenyans to live in peace and reject leaders who preach disunity. Kenneth appealed to the Kajiado North by-election aspirants to unite the residents of the cosmopolitan constituency. In Kisii women leaders asked DPM Musalia Mudavadi to pick a woman from the region as his running mate. They said the running mate position is not a preserve of men adding that their role will be crucial in the election. “We are urging you to pick a woman from this region as your running mate if you want our support,” said Ruth Bitange.
Mudavadi did not respond to the request. He, however, told the women to compete with  their male counterparts in various positions that have provided for in the constitution. “As much as we want women to be nominated, we want many of you to be elected in the coming election,” Mudavadi said. Elsewhere, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka yesterday called on religious leaders to preach unity among all Kenyans irrespective of their religious beliefs, saying living harmoniously with one another should the goal of all Kenyans. “I challenge Kenyans to live in harmony with one another and never fight again”, he said. The Vice President was speaking at the the 5th Anniversary of The Re-birth of the Black Race at the Gospel Tabernacle Worship Centre in Nairobi's South B.
