REVEALED: Hassan and Foreign Affairs officials asked Sh 30 million bribe

Wednesday July 25, 2012 - The forces of impunity seems to be degenerating day by day after details emerged on Tuesday, that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Isaac Hassan and senior officials at the Foreign Affairs Ministry had asked a foreign company to part with Sh 30 million bribe, for it to be awarded a tender in supplying Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) kits.

4G Identity Solutions which is an Indian Technology Firm, revealed to the DAILY POST on how Hassan sent his emissaries at Foreign Affairs Ministry, to force the company part with a Sh 3o million bribe in order for it to be given the lucrative tender.

When the company declined to pay the demanded bribe, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the “corrupt” National Security Intelligence Service (NSIS) warned that the company had been blacklisted in India for tax evasion and other malpractices to dent their reputation.

“Sir, we have a strong feeling that the said letter was written after we refused to compromise on corruption,”Dr Tripurareni who is one of the Directors of the company told the DAILY POST.

The company was the lowest bidder with a price tag of Sh 3.9 billion for the supply of BVR kits.
