Wednesday july18, 2012 - Finance Assistant Minister Dr Oburu Odinga has said he will not step aside for Lands Minister James Orengo in his bid for a Senate seat in Siaya County.

Dr Oburu Odinga, who is Raila Odinga’s elder brother, said his supporters in Siaya County asked him to go for the Senate seat.

Sections of leaders from the region have asked him to step down for Lands Minister James Orengo, a thing which he has fervently denied.

“He and any other contender are free to face me at the ballot since it is everybody’s democratic right to contest a political seat,”Oburu said.

Oburu who is currently the Bondo legislator said he is ready for talks with local politicians as long as its aim is not to block him from the ballot.
