NO ALLIANCE for Martha Karua

NO ALLIANCE for Martha Karua

Friday July 27, 2012-Narc Kenya Chairperson Martha Karua has said she will not associate with other presidential hopefuls in the upcoming general elections.

Addressing the youth and party aspirants in Nairobi, Karua said she will not form an election agreement with any presidential aspirants, saying she wants Kenyans to judge her independently.

She said she did not wish to carry the cross of people tainted with corruption and bad governance in the name of an alliance.

“The only people I will seek an alliance with are fellow Kenyans. Not alliance with people who have made their name out of bad governance,” Karua who is also the Gichugu MP said.
Karua condemned President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga for engaging in corruption activities asking Kenyans to be careful who they elect in next polls.

“Kenyans must be careful or else they might lock a hyena in the kraal of goats,” she said.
She said the coalition government has been rocked by scandals since many of those in it assumed positions driven by desire to loot public funds.

Karua cited Maize Scandal, kazi Kwa vijana, Triton and NHIF scandals as schemes hatched by members of the government to loot funds.

Karua further said it was in the same script that the now controversial sale of housing units meant for low and middle income earning class had been sold to the rich.

“We have seen many politicians who joined the government with deficits but now their accounts are over flowing with ill gotten wealth. Unfortunately, the burden of this corruption is being borne by the majority poor,” she said.

“In the same way they said they will divide the loaf into two while forming the coalition government, they have continued to share in corruption deals. Even before the NHIF controversy is completely investigated, we are hearing the minister saying he wants to reinstate the chief executive. That is the blatant manner in which corruption is being propagated,” she added.
