Mwakwere is in TROUBLE now

Mwakwere is in TROUBLE now

Friday, the 27th of July 2012 - The Mazalendo Kibunja led National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has scored a crucial victory today after a court ruled that Trade Minister Ali Chirau can stand trial for hate speech.

The NCIC wants to put Makwere on trial for comments he made during the by-election in his Matuga constituency last year which the commission says are in violation of sections 13 and 62 of the National Cohension and Integration Act 2008.

Mwakwere had earlier moved to court to block the prosecution by the NCIC but the court’s ruling today has opened the way not only for his prosecution but also for his arrest
NCIC has not had a stellar record of prosecuting hate speech cases so far so all eyes will be on this particular case to see how it develops.

As always, the Kenyan DAILY POST will update you on the latest.
