Mudavadi was NOT in Kisii to abuse anyone

Mudavadi was NOT in Kisii to abuse anyone

Sunday the 22nd of July 2012 - Deputy PM Musali Mudavadi has urged Kenyans to elect him in the first round so as to avoid the dicey prospect of a run-off that could turn as ugly as the 2007 election. He made the comments in several campaign stops as he toured Kisii county.

The Deputy PM, who is tipped by many to become a compromise candidate in the effort to thwart Raila’s steady match to State House, also called on Kenyans to shun violence before and after the election so that the country is not plunged into the uncertainty and mayhem that was witnessed in 2007;

“Election is about allowing people to make their choice of leaders without intimidation. Kenyans have that right to choose their leader but they themselves must be agents of peace to avoid violence similar to that of 2007. Never shall we allow bloodshed. We must guard against what happened in 2007″, said DPM.

Besides Kisii County, Mudavadi’s caravan went to South Mugirango, Bomachoge, and Bobasi constituencies. In the stops along the way, Mudavadi urged Kenyans to prevent a potentially acrimonious run-off by decisively electing him in the first round;

“Be decisive and elect me your president in the first round to avoid a second round that could ignite ethnic acrimony”, he said.

He further urged Kenyans to use the months still remaining to the countdown to the election to vet the leaders carefully instead of waiting to be bought off in the last minute;

“We have seven months to the general elections. Let us use that time to decide who is best to lead this country. We should not be influenced last minute by handouts and gamble with our lives. This is about family lives; our children, wives, husbands and the unborn Kenyans. We cannot gamble with it”, he pleaded.

Adding;

“I am seeking mandate from Kenyans not to rule them but to be their servant. I am not here to abuse. Mine is to sell my policies on how to assist Kenyans for better, interact with the people to understand their problems so that I can address them when elected president”, he concluded.
