Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka has called on the church to join political leaders in efforts to improve the country’s governance.
Mr Musyoka said the church should get out of their comfort zones and participate in decision making instead of complaining about the country’s bad governance and corruption.
“You have to dirty your hands by joining politicians, not complaining about bad leadership,” he said.
The VP was speaking on Sunday during the Silver Jubilee celebrations by the Anglican Church of Kenya Embu Diocese held at St Paul’s Cathedral in Embu town. He said voters should stop dwelling on the past and instead figure out how they can achieve Vision 2030.
Mr Musyoka added that Kenyans must strive to have quality service in all their undertakings so as to make the nation a better place to live in. The Vice-President urged residents to shun ethnicity and instead identify themselves with the country.
“You should not be negligent about life. Think outside the box and as a Kenyan,” he said.
ACK Embu diocese Bishop Henry Kathii urged the faithful to be pro-active in governance matters such as elections, devolution and accountability.
“We as the church, should enforce accountability, influence elections and the devolution process so that the right leaders are elected,” he said.

Kenyans, he added, should look for men and women who stand for the truth, are trustworthy, God-fearing and desist from taking bribes to elect leaders.
Bishop Kathii also called on Kenyans to live harmoniously with each other saying that a nation that is not united will be riddled with problems.
Retired ACK Archbishop David Gitari while addressing the congregation called on Kenyans to elect leaders who were capable, incorruptible in the forthcoming General Election.

He told Kenyans to abandon tribalism and corruption and embrace peace and love.
Among those who graced the occasion include the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport Cyrus Njiru and Embu Deputy Provincial Commissioner Beverly Opwora.
Later, the Vice-President while speaking to the press at Kangaru East College said that during the forthcoming elections, Kenya will get the president she deserves and he is the best man for the job.
Mr Musyoka noted that he is a true reformer and should not be categorized in the list of non-reformers.
“I will prove that I am a true reformer and the time to prove that I am a true reformer and others are pretenders, is now”, he said.
