Kalonzo Musyoka and his ’24 hour economy’

Kalonzo Musyoka and his ’24 hour economy’

Sunday the 22nd of July 2012 - Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka is at it again with one of his most famous talking points from the 2007 election which is turning Kenya into a 24 hour economy. Kalonzo made the statement when he took his campaign to Kamunkunji Constituency on Sunday where, as has become sort of his fashion, he addressed Kenyans outside the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AICPA).

As part of the pitch on how he plans to improve the economy the VP said;

“The improvement of our country’s economy is going to be my priority if given the opportunity to lead after the next election,” he said.

The VP also heaped praise on President Mwai Kibaki for overseeing the economic and infrastructural leaps that the country has witnessed in the last few years. He however added that the country needed to improve in the area of security so that it can attract investors;

“Our country should have peace with itself if we are to attract both local and foreign investments.

Nobody wants to invest in an insecure country,” said Musyoka.

Kalonzo also urged the faithful to shun tribalism;

“I need your prayers and I want you to judge me accordingly as we approach the next General Election. What I am saying is that if your heart tells you this is the person to lead this country then decide. Don’t be driven by tribal affiliations,’’ he said.

Adding;

“I am sure there will be no fear among us if all of us regard one another as brothers and sisters especially now that we are approaching the next election.”

“We need to love and embrace each other by electing a leader irrespective of tribe or even
religious prejudice,” said Musyoka.
