It is RAILA and KIBAKI - August 2013

Wednesday July 25, 2012 - Narc Kenya chairperson Martha Karua has hit out at President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga for trying to postpone the date of the election from March to August 2013.

Karua, who is a presidential hopeful in the upcoming poll, said the Head of State and the PM were being misled by their aides to extend their terms in violation of the constitution.

“The new constitution stipulates that we must have elections within the five –year term and not after. There are some few elements within the confines of the President and the PM who want to mislead them so that their terms are extended. This is unconstitutional and illegal,” Karua said while on her campaign trail in Nkubu, Meru County on Tuesday.

Karua , who is also the Gichugu MP  further accused President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga of failing to agree to dissolve  parliament in October to pave  the way for December elections.

“Kenyans cannot continue suffering until August next year…. We must stand strong and defend our rights while preventing the mutilation of the constitution. A public outcry is required to stop this,” she said.

She accused the offices of the two principals of engaging in mega corruption that has continued affecting the lives of many poor Kenyans.

In particular, Karua took the case to Prime Minister Raila Odinga to come clean on the graft allegations levelled against him by his former aide Miguna Miguna.

She requested the two principals to retire in politics, when their terms expire in December since they have raped and mutilated the Kenya’s economy.
