  • Sabatia MP says polls will be race between peace crusaders and war mongers
Presidential hopeful Musalia Mudavadi has said Kenyans will have to choose between political stability and endless turmoil in the next General Election.
Speaking during a campaign tour of Tharaka-Nithi County over the weekend, Mr Mudavadi urged Kenyans to elect leaders who will ensure peace and stability to provide a conducive environment for economic growth.
“The coming election is the choice between those of us who want to create peace and stability for development against those who want the status quo of continuous political acrimony that resulted in violence in 2007. Let us escape the trap and make the right decision,” he said during a meet-the-people tour at Ntonyai, Kanyanga, Marimanti centres.
The United Democratic Front party leader said politics of labelling Kenyans based on tribe, political affiliation or reform credentials must end to pave the way for one Kenya.
Kenyans, he said, could avoid making the March 2013 polls expensive by electing the President in the first round.
“We don’t want bloody elections again. In UDF, we want to win the elections in the first round and concentrate on nation-building,” he told residents.
Accompanied by MPs Nderitu Muriithi, Jeremiah Kioni, Justus Kizito, George Nyamweya and Manyala Keya, the DPM said he wants to bring all Kenyans together to move the country forward.
“We do not want leaders who categorise Kenyans as reformists and non-reformists. As a leader, you cannot discriminate Kenyans, but must be ready to serve everybody,” he said.

No reason to doubt
ODM leader Raila Odinga has been saying that the polls will be a race between reformers and non-reformers.
Local leaders who accompanied the Sabatia MP, among them and two former MPs Francis Nyamu Kagwima and Petkey Miriti, assured him of their support.
They urged him to address the marginalisation of the Tharakas, if he wins the top seat.
“The Njuri Ncheke have made you one of us by naming you M’Mukiri. We have no reason to doubt their wisdom and will walk with you all the way,” Mr Kagwima said.
MPs in the entourage took a swipe at Mr Odinga’s reform credentials.
“What we have been saying in Parliament has been confirmed. The man who has been calling himself reformist in every forum has been exposed by Miguna.
“Kenyans can now see the deception of the so-called reformers,” Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni said.
