Here is the TRUTH about IEBC tender

Here is the TRUTH about IEBC tender

Sunday the 22nd of July 2012 - The Kenyan Daily Post has reliable information which seems to indicate that the Independent Electoral Commission (IEBC) willfully overlooked some of companies that presented the lowest bids for the supply of biometric voter registration kits.

In the pasts weeks, the IEBC has listed the following companies as being the likeliest candidates to win the tender; 4G Identity Solutions of India (bid KSH 3.72 billion), Symphony of Kenya (bid KSH 3.9 billion) , Face Technologies of South Africa (bid KSH 4.6 billion) and OnTrack of Israel (bid KSH 8.2 billion).

Now though it has emerged that there are some companies which had lower bids than the ones which were eventually short-listed for the tender and no reason has yet been given why they were overlooked.

Some of the bids that were overlooked are Sandbox Holdings Company (KSH 3.3 billion), Modern Lithographics (KSH 3.2 billion), KENCALL Ltd and CMC Ltd (KSH 3.06 billion). Of all these, one that had the lowest was French company going by the name of Safran Morpho which bid KSH 2.88 billion.

The IEBC’s decision to award the tender to Symphony, a company with a dodgy past and which seems unclear on even its own name, has elicited sharp criticism from concerned parties. The commission is set to hold a press conference later on Monday to address these concerns.
