Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu conned Sh 500,000

Wednesday July 25,2012 - Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu is undergoing sleepless nights, after a man masquerading as” journalist” duped him that he is the most popular candidate in Nairobi’s gubernatorial race.

The man presented Waititu with a crude copy of what he said was an opinion poll that showed he is the most popular candidate if the elections were held at that time.

Thrilled by the poll, which indicated that he had 42 per cent lead against his closest rival who had  19 per cent, Waititu who is also Water Assistant Minister paid the journalist Sh 500,000 shillings in anticipation of the poll’s publication.

He later realised that he had been conned, when he went to the “journalist’s office” to thank him for the publication, and found that it was a salon and there was no such a firm!
