A team to carry out an inquiry into a helicopter crash that killed a minister, his assistant and four others starts its work on Monday.
Transport Minister Amos Kimunya said the team investigating the crash that killed Internal Security Minister George Saitoti and his assistant Orwa Ojodeh, led by Court of Appeal Judge Kalpana Rawal, is to probe five things.
These include procedures surrounding the procurement of the helicopter make Eurocopter 5Y-CDT type AS 350 B3.
The team will also probe servicing, maintenance, use and storage of the helicopter prior to the crash, and circumstances of the June 10 flight from Wilson Airport.
They will also investigate the cause that led to the crash of the helicopter and any other matter that led to the crash and make necessary recommendations.
Following the crash in Kibiku forest of Ngong, the helicopter pilots Nancy Gituanja and Luke Oyugi, and bodyguards Joshua Tonkei and Thomas Murimi of the two ministers also perished.
On June 20, Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, presided over the swearing in of the team that comprised of Mrs Rawal, Maj-Gen (Rtd) Harold Tangai, Maj (Rtd) Charles Munyeki, Capt (Rtd) Peter Maranga and Mr Aggrey Opot.

Several theories have been advanced over the crash with some MPs claiming that Prof Saitoti and Mr Ojodeh were assassinated by drug barons.
They accused the government of frustrating foreign investigators from South Africa led by Chris Briers, with MPs directing an accusing finger to the Ministry of Transport.
