Caroline Mutoko has been appointed to chair the Kenya Tourist Development
Corporation board.
Mutoko was appointed by
the Minister for Tourism Danson Mwazo.
Mutoko is the Group Marketing Manager at
Radio Africa Group, where she is also the Programme Controller and hosts a
morning show on Kiss 100.
In the same gazette notice dated July 24, President Kibaki also
appointed chairmen to three tourism parastatals.
President Kibaki appointed Anthony Wahome as the Chairman of
Catering and Tourism Development Levy Trustees.
Gerson Misumi is now the Chairman, Kenya Utalii College while
Killian Lugwe will head the Hotels and Restaurants Authority
According to Mwazo, the changes were made in a bid to boost
service delivery in the tourism institutions.
Mwazo also appointed board members to the Kenya Tourist Board,
Kenyatta International Conference Centre, Hotels and Restaurants Authority,
Kenya Utalii College, Kenya Tourist Development Corporation, Kenya Safari
Lodges and Hotels, Catering and Tourism Development Trustees and Bomas of Kenya
“These changes are part of the measures being undertaken by the
Ministry of Tourism in readiness for the adoption of the new Tourism Act, 2011,
and are meant to streamline the delivery of services across the different
corporations,” the gazette notice stated.
