Shuga nominated for UK Media Awards

The captivating TV drama that showcases the life of the African youth, Shuga: Love, Sex, Moneyhas been nominated for a UK award. Shuga has been nominated in the drama award category in the One World Media Awards. The awards recognise the unique role of filmmakers in bridging the divide between different societies and raising awareness of vital development issues.
The winners will be announced at the ceremony on May 8 at Kings Place, London. This year's awards mark 25 years of charitable work by One World Media. The organisation is known for promoting media that contributes to global dialogue and understanding, human rights and development. Shuga will battle it out with other contenders in the category. The other productions are Miss Bala by CANANA and Otelo Burning by Cinga Productions.
The Shuga production features a hot young cast of Kenyan and Nigerian actors, boldly addressing sexual health topics head-on, bravely confronting taboo topics such as rape and sex-for-gifts, told through the lives of realistic characters and emotional situations drawn from real life. The characters include Sharol Olago (violet), Avril (Miss B’Have), Anto NeoSoul (Kenedy), Brenda Wairimu (Dala), 9Con (Femi), Nick Mutuma (Leo), Shirleene Wairimu (Kipepeo) and Nick Ndeda (Angelo).
