Kenyan model appointed Rwanda ambassador

Kenyan model Ciru Maina has being appointed as the ambassador for Beauty of Rwanda and theirOnly One Basket campaign to help better the lives of rural Rwandan women. The role will see her help promote the arts and crafts of the Rwandese families in the western world. Their vision is to sell Rwandan artifacts to people in the west with a mission to alleviate poverty amongst Rwandans, many of whom are widows of the 1994 Rwanda genocide, others are victims of rape, some of whom are now HIV positive.
Beauty of Rwanda founder Salha L Kaitesi says: "We are glad Ciru chose to work with us and we hope this partnership will bring a lot of good changes in the lives of the people we are trying to help "
Ciru speaking on her appointment said, "I see the world as a global village and feel we all have a responsibility to help our neighbours where we can. I am honoured to be an ambassador for such a worthwhile cause. I am a Kenyan and I would like to help the Rwandans in this instance and encourage other Africans around the world to create a better life for themselves through their skills"
The Beauty of Rwanda's Only One Basket Campaign is supported by the international Rwandan High Commissions. She has also been featured in the premier issue of American magazine Amoize launched this month for Delta Airlines. Ciru who is a Goodwill Ambassador for Heart 2 Heart Foundation talks about her unique positioning as an African model representing Africa abroad in a positive way.
