VP now asks President to sack Mutula

By VITALIS KIMUTAI

Fighting to retain his position in the G7 alliance, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has yielded to pressure to have outspoken Justice Minister Mutula Kilonzo sacked.
Kalonzo is said to have delivered a letter to President Kibaki requesting the sacking of the Mbooni MP from Cabinet.
Reliable sources said the VP handed the letter to the President during a meeting at Harambee House, Nairobi, on Friday.
Kalonzo later met Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto.
"The VP confirmed to Uhuru and Ruto during the meeting at Norfolk hotel that he had finally cracked the whip on Mutula and had hand delivered the sacking letter to the President," an MP in the G7 alliance revealed. After explaining himself and the position he had taken on Mutula, the VP was taken to task by Uhuru and Ruto who demanded to know the action he had taken against Kangundo MP Johnstone Muthama.
"Musyoka told the two leaders that Muthama’s case would be dealt with through the party organs during a National Executive Council meeting which is set for tomorrow (Monday)," Another source close to Uhuru and Ruto told The Standard On Sunday.
