The Maendeleo ya Wanaume lobby group have threatened to mobilize men countrywide to boycott food in their houses starting Monday to protest the recent increase of man battering.
The group leader Nderitu Njoka says the six-day strike is meant to compel women engaged in domestic violence against their spouses to stop the vice.
Speaking at the Nakuru provincial general hospital where he had visited a man assaulted by a woman, Njoka blamed empowerment funds given to women by the government for the increase in the trend adding that men should also be financially empowered.
At least 460,000 cases of men battering were reported last year in Central Kenya and 300,000 in Nairobi, according to Maendeleo ya Wanaume.
Meanwhile, the Africa Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa women council has vowed to work with families to restore harmony between spouses in Nyeri County that has recently witnessed an upsurge in husband battering.
