Internal Security Minister George Saitoti took his presidential campaign to Murang’a County and maintained that his name will be on the presidential ballot come next elections.
Addressing faithful of Itaaga Catholic Church in Maragua, the minister said he was confident that PNU, which steered President Kibaki to State House, would triumph in the next General Election.
Prof Saitoti said that he had to make the hard decision to step down from the race in 2002 for the sake of President Kibaki although he was so close to the top seat as the longest-serving Vice-President. (READ:Kibaki’s debt to presidential aspirants)
Kibaki’s legacy
He said PNU was the party to carry on his President Kibaki’s legacy “going by the development projects that he had initiated”.
“We have now started a journey and there is no turning back. Those who want to move with us are welcome on board,” he said.
PNU organising secretary Maina Kamanda said the party would open offices in all the counties in preparation for the General Election.
He urged Kenyans to vote for Prof Saitoti due to his political experience.
