NAIVASHA MP John Mututho now says he will hold a major demonstration at Mawingu IDP camp in Nyandarua a week after the IDPs burnt his effigy in Gilgil town. Mututho said the demonstrations will also be used to put the record straight on the intended resettlement of the victims of political violence in Laikipia which he is opposed to.
An irate Mututho wondered why the police had not taken action on the IDPs leaders whom he has threatened to take to court for defamation. "We are going to have the mother of all demonstrations at the camp and we are also going to burn an effigy of the IDP’s chairman similar to what he did in Gilgil last week," he said.
He called on the commissioner of police Matthew Iteere to institute criminal charges against the chairman of the IDPs Peter Kariuki who he termed as misleading the IDPs for selfish gains. "If Iteere will not arrest Kariuki and take him to court this week then I should also be given permission to demonstrate and even burn his effigy at any time if this is not criminal," he said.
