Last week, we told you about a senior criminal investigation officer who has staffed key CID positions with members of his community. We have since learnt that 16 section heads in the CID come from one region which has prompted top police officers at Vigilance House to demand a nominal role of section heads.

The search for the replacement of Michael Waweru at Kenya Revenue Authority as commissioner general gets underway this week. Corridors is wondering why one of the candidates is ready to take a huge pay cut to get the job. We are informed that the man earns close to Sh4.2 million per month while KRA commissioner general earns salary plus allowances totaling approximately Sh2 million.

An MP from Eastern province is convinced President Mwai Kibaki will endorse Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka to succeed him. The MP, who is known to be close to the the VP, argued that Eastern stood firm with Central in the aftermath of the 2007 general election and they expect nothing less than the presidency this time round. "Let them ignore us and we shall teach them a bitter lesson by walking straight to Raila's ODM," he was overheard saying.

Opponents of URP were peeved by its launch yesterday and were overheard remarking loudly that former YK '92 members have come of age and rebranded the infamous grouping into a political party. They also joked that William Ruto and Cyrus Jirongo have promised a better Kenya. "Those who want to live there should register as members of URP," they said.
