Eldoret North MP William Ruto is leading UDM friendly MPs in a bonding retreat at a Naivasha hotel in a bid to cool off raging tension within the party.
UDM according to Ruto has now registered over 1 million members and the party is targeting 5 million members before the end of January.
The move comes just days after the party’s Secretary General  Martin Kamwaro and rtd General Augustine Cheruiyot the ousted UDM chairman travelled to Bondo to meet Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Kamwaro has however denied he met Raila in his town of Bondo over last weekend and pledged loyalty to UDM.
The meeting in Naivasha which will end later today has brought together over 40 MPs and party officials.
“I am in UDM to stay and I am supprised that propaganda of such magnitude are doing the rounds,”Kamwaro said.

Ruto is expected to run as the party’s Presidential ticket against Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo.
As the Eldoret MP strategized on how to consolidate the party support,Prime Minister Raila Odinga was in Bomet in Ndanai trying to take advantage of the ongoing UDM wrangles in Kipsigis areas.
The PM is however facing an uphill task in an area where Ruto is enjoying euphoric support.
Raila is yet to full fill a promised he made several weeks ago in Eldamaravin that the Mau evictees would have been settled two weeks after his visit to Ravine.
At the same time Uhuru Kenyatta is also headed to Naivasha where he is to lead Kanu MPs and NEC members in a retreat to revitalise the party ahead of the elections.

A senior party official close to Uhuru revealed that the DPM wants to take advantage of the party to reinstroduce himself in Kalenjin country in order to get 25 percent threshold in half of the counties in the country in the next elections.
Many believe the Gatundu North MP has the best chances of winning next year’s elections with ease as his only proble was the county issue.
Yesterday Prime Minister Raila Odinga posted a message in his facebook wall saying he will support the winner of next year’s elections if he looses.Raila did not give conditions for acceptance.
