Results of this year’s standard eight national examinations will be released next week.
Education Permanent Secretary James ole Kiyiapi said the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education results will be released on December 28.
A total of 750,000 candidates sat the examinations last month.
Education minister Sam Ongeri is expected to announce the results at the Kenya National Examinations Council offices near State House, Nairobi.
The news came just a day after Saturday Nation published new guidelines that will guide admission into secondary schools next month. (READ: New rules to shake up Form One admissions)
On Saturday, Prof Kiyiapi said Prof Ongeri will make a policy statement on the finalised guidelines when he launches the start of the Form One selection exercise in January.
He added that the ministry had collected data on schools’ capacities and was planning to launch new national schools.
Prof Kiyiapi said the creation of 30 new national schools will likely increase the number of candidates joining national schools from 4,000 to 10,000. A further 57 schools will be added in the second and third phases of creating national schools.
