Five perish as buses collide head on

Five people died early this morning after two buses collided head-on in Kanga area near Mtito-Andei.
The 2 am accident occurred after two buses collided head on killing the two drivers instantly.
Deputy traffic police commandant Samwel Kimaru says eleven other passengers were seriously injured and were rushed to Voi district Hospital.
Speaking to KBC on phone, Kimaru called on motorists and other road users to remain cautious to avert further road accidents.
He called on motorist to avoid speeding and overtaking at wrong points adding that most accidents were as a result of reckless driving.
Last week, eight people lost their lives in a similar accident near Makindu on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway after an Akamba bus rammed an oil tanker.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has called on Kenyans to be more vigilant during this festive season and report any suspicious individuals to the security apparatus immediately.
Mr. Musyoka said all Kenyans should be conscious of their own security and especially during this time that the Kenya Defence Forces are engaged in the operation "Linda Nchi" in Somalia.
He called on transporters and bus companies plying the   Mwingi-Garissa Highway to be careful not to ferry criminals who might be linked to the Al-Shabaab - a terror group which Kenya is fighting to eliminate.
