Shinyalu Legislator Dismisses Eugene Presidency

By David Mwere August 25
Shinyalu MP Justus Kizito has strongly dismissed Saboti MP Eugene Wamalwa’s quest for presidency as noisy and a ploy by some busy bodies to divide the Western province vote.
In an interview at parliament buildings, Kizito says the Saboti MP was a non- starter, and his coming into play was dubious owing to his close working relationship with leaders ‘of questionable character.’
The Saboti MP will be seeking presidency on the New Ford Kenya ticket after falling out with his Ford Kenya party.
The ODM legislator’s jibe is Eugene’s latest setback for top leadership in the country, coming from his own region.
“It is a common fact that he (Eugene) is playing other peoples cards to advance their own interests particularly at the expense of the region,” says Kizito.
Ever since his rise to the presidential contest, Eugene has been associated with various individuals including former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga, Jimmy Kibaki of Simama Kenya movement, and lately his dalliance with Finance Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto.
Uhuru and Ruto are among the six individuals suspected by the ICC as persons bearing the greatest responsibility to the 2007 post election violence.
The ICC pre- trial chamber meets on September, 1st to rule on the confirmation of charges against the six.
The case against Uhuru and Ruto is part of the 2012 twists shaping the political landscape as the election date draws near. The two, have voiced their stab at the presidency in the election year but the Hague debacle could complicate matters for them if they are formally indicted.
Kizito however, says, were the ICC to condemn the two presidential contenders, the emergence of Eugene that seems to have been capitalizing on the ICC ghost against Uhuru and Ruto would not reap from their misfortunes.
