THE US  is concerned that the resettlement of the remaining IDPs has not been finalized hardly a year to the next general elections. The US Ambassador  Jonathan Gration said the  IDPs should be resettled before the official campaigns for the 2012 general elections start. He said  the government should also bring to justice those who bear the greatest responsibility for the post-electoral killings so that the country can enjoy free, fair and transparent elections in 2012.
At the same time, the Gration praised the Kenyan Government for “effectively” combating internal militia groups leading to the East Africa’s country stability. The ambassador said the remarkable achievement underscores the tremendous progress Kenya has made following the disputed 2007 elections. “Kenya has taken steps to reign in militia groups particularly the Mungiki and the Sabaot Land Defense Council. The country’s other achievement is that it held a peaceful referendum and adopted a new visionary constitution,” said the Ambassador.
