THE ORANGE PARTY LEADERS SET TO TOUR NORTH RIFT AND WESTERN.


Prime Minister Raila Odinga is this weekend scheduled to make an extensive tour of the North Rift and upper Western region of Bungoma where he is scheduled to join the locals in celebrating one year since the country’s supreme law was promulgated.

August 27 last year was the day when the new constitution came into force as thousands of Kenyans thronged Uhuru Park in Nairobi to witness the historic moment.
And Saturday August 27 this year, the Premier is expected to mark the day in style by visiting the graveside of the Late Hon. Masinde Muliro, who was among the group of politicians who championed for the return of the political pluralism in Kenya and the struggle for the Country’s 2nd Liberation.
Mr. Muliro who was born in 1922 died on the 14th of August 1992 while in the middle of the struggle for the multiparty politics alongside the doyen of opposition politics in Kenya the Late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, politicians Martine Shikuku, Kenneth Matiba, George Nthenge, Ahmed Bamahriz, Prof. Rashid Mzee and Achieng’ Oneko among others. Others included the then young turks Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Paul Muite, Gitobu Imanyara, Kiraitu Murungi, the late George Anyona and Henry Obwocha among others.
During the occasion, the Premier will attend a memorial service for the Late Masinde Muliro at his home in Cherang’any in Transnzoia County at 10.am before visiting Lugari Constituency for a public baraza before heading to Kitale town for a public rally at the Kitale Stadium.
On Sunday, the Orange Democratic Party Leader will attend a church service at the Tongaren Catholic Church in Kimili Constituency before heading to the homestead of the late Elijah Masinde (The founder of the Dini ya Musambwa) for his Memorial Service. The late Elijah Masinde’s home is in Kamukuywa area of Kimilili Constituency.
He will then later in the afternoon from 2.pm address a major public rally in Bungoma town.
Meanwhile, Mr. Odinga will tomorrow Thursday 25/8 be in Tharaka to attend a mass funeral at Magundu Primary School in Mitheru Division of Maara District in Nithi Constituency. The PM will arrive at the venue at 10.00.am.
On Friday, the PM will attend a mass for the Bomet accident victims at the Litein Catholic Church in Konoin Constituency before heading to Budalangi in Busia County for the funeral of Hon. Fred Gumo’s mother.
