Public Health Minister Beth Mugo on Sunday ordered speedy investigations into the deaths of four children who died between the 4th and 5th of August due to what parents had claimed was negligence on the part of medical staff at the Hospital.
Fielding questions from journalists in Nairobi Tuesday at the Kenyatta International Conference Center Monday, after opening a workshop for stakeholders in the health on the constitution, the PS said investigations have shown that the children died of natural causes that have been exacerbated by the ongoing cold weather in the central region of the country.
"The facts speak for themselves, they died of natural causes. There was no issue about the oxygen supply."
The PS blamed the parents of the infants of not ensuring that their children were vaccinated against pneumonia and meningitis which is believed to have killed the infants.
She said the situation was further compounded by malnutrition. She advised parents to be watchful on their children especially during adverse weather conditions.
