K'Ogalo chopped

Hugo Nzangu was the hero as his 48th minute header handed Sony Sugar a 1-0 win over Gor Mahia in a Kenyan Premier League match played at Awendo Green Stadium.
Gor Mahia had hoped to close the gap on leaders Tusker with the fixture carried over from Harambee Stars assignments.

But it was former Gor Mahia defender David Otieno, who teed up the Congolese to break the hearts of travelling K’Ogalo fans Wednesday.
Gor Mahia coach felt they created many chances only to fail to convert them as they find themselves five points adrift of the brewers.
"Sony were the better side. We got many chances but failed to utilize them," Otieno said in the aftermath of the defeat.
Sony’s coach Francis Baraza said he was happy with his charges for following his instructions to the letter.
Sony made use of their strong midfield and good ball possession to win the grueling match played under chilly weather in Awendo.
The hosts put up a strong challenge mixed with aggressive tackles that saw Marwa Chamberi, Isaiah Omondi, Francis Ochola and Victor Majid were booked.
Sony served early notice with the would be scorer, Nzoka, asking questions in the opening minute with a shot on target which was punched out by Gor’s custodian Jerim Onyango.
Edwin Lavatsa missed several opportunities on the left wing, which he was operating from as he failed contain the long passes sent to him from the midfield.
Moses Otieno wasted a golden chance for Gor in the 30th minute after he had shuffled off the ball Sony’s Justine Monda, but his shooting was wayward.
Erick Masika who had an excellent game in defence carved out some chances, but the Gor forwards appeared off duty.
Gor Mahia coach’s attempts of throwing into the fray Moses Odhiambo, Demonde Selenga and Dan Makori in the second half could not break Sony’s resolve.
Selenga was a pale shadow of his usual self as Sony’s defence kept him in check.
Gor mounted pressure in the last seven minutes, but it was a case of too little too late.
