Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka over the weekend assured Mwingi North constituents that security will be restored following clashes with pastoralists from neighbouring communities.
The VP told the constituents that the insecurity resulting from the invasion of the pastoralists from NEP and Tana River will be addressed decisively by the authorities and a solution arrived at to enable them live peacefully.
Kalonzo at the same time lambasted Eastern PC Claire Omolo for failing to address insecurity in Kaningo where it is hard hit by the invasion. He said the PC was not utilising machinery at her disposal to ensure security in the area was beefed up.
The VP told the PC that her reluctance has resulted to clashes leading to families fleeing for safety. “I want you to ensure that security is restored so that people can go back to their houses. Make sure temporary police posts are set up in this area to assure the people of their security,” Kalonzo told Omolo.
A visibly enraged Kalonzo was addressing a public baraza at Kaningo trading centre in Tseikuru district. He had earlier toured Kamuthanga sub-location where residents had fled their homes due to rising insecurity. He blamed the PC for failing to be pro-active in addressing insecurity issues in Kaningo. During the meeting, the VP was accompanied by Bura MP Abdi Nassir Nur.
