Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has urged Members of Parliament (MPs) to unanimously pass the judicial nominations next Tuesday, saying the three nominees have been subjected to proper vetting.
Mr. Musyoka emphasized on the need for all MPs to be in the House to pass the nominations of Dr. Willy Mutunga (chief Justice), Nancy Baraza (Deputy Chief  Justice) and Keriako Tobiko (Director of Public Prosecution).
The Vice President said it is time MPs forget their differences and take a  common stand on matters pertaining to the judiciary by passing the nomination of  the three nominees as the only way to fast track reforms at the judiciary.
"We have a duty as MPs to see that the  nomination of the three nominees is  passed by Parliament as soon as possible to fast track reform at the  judiciary,'' said Mr. Musyoka.
He said it was wrong for some MPs to hatch a scheme to discredit Mr. Tobiko so  that he cannot get the job but assured Kenyans that the nominations of the three  individuals will be passed by Parliament.
The Vice President said that the Speaker of the National Assembly should not be shaken by plans by the civil society to go to court to block the approval of Mr.  Tobiko as the Director of prosecutions.
He said that the nomination of the three individuals was gender sensitive and called on MPs to come together and pass their nominations without any due delay.
Speaking on Saturday at Mua Hills Girls High School in Machakos district during a fund drive for the institution, Mr. Musyoka said leaders have resolved to work  together in preaching peace and reconciliation in the country.
The harambee was also attended By Eldoret North MP William Ruto, his Machakos Town counterpart Victor Munyaka and former Kitutu Chache MP Jimmy Angwenyi among others.
Mr. Musyoka assured Kenyans that they will continue work together with leaders who are serious in addressing the problem of negative ethnicity in the country.
He said it is time leaders take sacrifices and pay the prize for the sake of the future of people of Kenya. He urged Kenyans to put aside ethnic and political differences and work together towards building the nation.
Mr. Musyoka said days for empty rhetoric are over and that it is time for Kenyans to focus their energies towards improving the country's economy.
"What is important is that we should all agree that we will unite and work towards addressing the challenges facing us so that we will have a peaceful country where Kenyans can live freely in any part without fear,' he said.
The Vice President noted that under the new constitution, there is a great future for Kenyans.
'Alliance'
He noted that there was serious understaffing among schools in the country, saying the situation was being addressed by the Government.
Mr. Musyoka said Ruto played a key role in ensuring that problems facing farmers in the country were addressed when he was in the agriculture docket besides ensuring that mushrooming bogus colleges were deregistered during his tenure in Higher Education.
Mr. Ruto on his part said leaders across the country have resolved to work as a team in ensuring that peace and stability prevails.
He said for accelerated development to be realized in the country, there was need for leaders to continue preaching peace and reconciliation in the country.
"We know some people are praying that our alliance that is comprising of leaders from all over the country disintegrates so that they can benefit from it. But I wish to tell them that we are here to work as a team,'' said Mr. Ruto.
The former Higher Education minister assured Kenyans that a team of leaders who will match their actions with what they say is being put in place ahead of the next general election.
"The current situation requires that we have men and women who match what is said, planned and delivered,'' said Mr. Ruto.
Mr. Munyaka on his part said some people opposing the nomination of Mr.Tobiko were playing politics with the issue.
He also called for the immediate reinstatement of Mr. Ruto to the cabinet since he has been cleared of the corruption charges that he faced.
