Two people died as five were rescued after a six-storey building that was under construction collapsed at Nairobi's Pipeline area.By Cyrus Ombati
Police said 16 people were working at the construction site when the building came down trapping all of them before members of the public rescued five.
Rescue workers from Kenya Red Cross, Police, St John’s Ambulance and the fire brigade were struggling to reach any other survivors.
Kenya Army personnel also joined the rescue team using a crane to scoop piles and slabs of concrete and steel rubble.
Police used teargas canisters to disperse a large crowd that had gathered around the collapsed building impeding rescue operations.
Emergency teams also had a difficult time controlling emotions of relatives of those trapped under the slabs.
