MAKADARA MP Gideon Mbuvi now faces House sanctions after a document he tabled claiming Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi had sought a Sh3million bribe from a contractor was declared forged. Mbuvi faces serious punitive measures after several MPs demanded that he be named for misleading the House.
According to the Standing Orders Mbuvi may be expelled for four days without drawing his allowances if found guilty. Temporary Speaker Ekwe Ethuro promised to deliver a ruling on the matter.
Mudavadi yesterday confirmed to Parliament that letter tabled by Mbuvi was fake, shocking MPs as the chair had been forced to admit the documents.
The Makadara MP who was in the House walked out shortly before Mudavadi issued a statement on the issue. “I wish to put it clear that the allegations made by the MP were made for purposes of damaging my reputation. The document tabled here was also forged,” Mudavadi said.
Gwasi MP John Mbadi asked the Speaker to ensure the MP was punished in order to restore the dignity of the House. Ndaragua MP Jeremiah Kioni asked for the expulsion of Mbuvi from the house over the unbecoming conduct. Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba also urged MPs to ensure they act with decency while handling their parliamentary responsibilities.
