PARTY LEADER RAILA RECONCILES FEUDING MOMBASA ODM MPS, THEY PROMISE TO WORK TOGETHER FOR THE UNITY OF THE PARTY.

Prime Minister Raila Odinga has hailed Mombasa members of parliament for setting aside their differences and agreeing to work together for quick development of the area.
He said that the unity was a key thrust that will enable them dedicate their energies on development.
The PM who was metaphorical in his advice the ODM MPs,said that unremitting wrangles only served to benefit challengers.
The PM said this today while addressing a public baraza at Mvita clinic grounds, in Mvita constituency after laying a foundation stone for the construction of a Maternity and child care ward.
In a show of unity, the four MPs; Minister Najib Balala, Assistant Minister Ramadhan Kajembe, Hassan Joho and Mwasoud Mwahimi rose to the podium and held their hands in solidarity.
They promised to organize a joint public rally in Mombasa presided over by the ODM party leader so as to map out development strategies in the coastal region.
They also pledged to support the PM and rally the coastals to support him clinch the 2012 presidential seat.
At the same time Mr.Odinga noted the government intends to expand the Kenya Ports Authority and make it more efficient and effective in service delivery.
He said that by expanding the facility, the government is determined to create more employment opportunities for the youth in the region.
‘’As a government, we have decided to expand the Kenya Ports Authority so as to create more employment opportunities’’, he said.
The PM revealed that a sub-cabinet committee will soon pay a visit to solicit views from the coastal people on how the Mombasa port can be modernized.
The Premier told the crowd that the World Bank has already released funds for the expansion programme.
He said that plans to construct another port at Lamu are at an advanced stage.
He advised the members of the coast Republic movement that the new constitution will address their grievances.
He observed that gone are the days when due to bad governance, some regions were favored in terms of allocation of state resources while others marginalized.
He explained that this was the main reason why some regions in the country were more developed than others.
‘’We are in a new constitutional dispensation that we all fought for,gone are days where resources from the central government were unevenly distributed’’,he said.
