Share/Save/Bookmark Two leading politicians who are hoping to be candidates in the next presidential elections recently met in a Westlands hotel where they reportedly considered options available to them if they are to co-operate with Prime Minister Raila Odinga. The two  former Kanu members reportedly investigated the possibilities of combining their resources and political might and have one of them run against Raila if he does not  co-operate with the G7 alliance.

A first-time MP from South Nyanza and a confidant of Internal Security minister George Saitoti was the surprise inclusion from the ODM side to accompany President Kibaki to Ethiopia. The President is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to attend the India-Africa talks.

A prosecutor in one of the courts in Kisii County has reportedly set up an elaborate kangaroo court system with his own 'agents of justice' in nearly all the trading centres in the county. Litigants and lawyers say the man has been reaping big from the bribes that he demands to assist suspects escape justice by ensuring the case he presents in court is weak so the court has no option but to dismiss it and acquit the suspects. The suspects' families are 'encouraged' to give the prosecutor bribes in kind ranging from land and livestock for their release. Numerous robbery with violence, murder and rape suspects have been acquitted for "the lack of evidence".

Bernard Shinali, the ODM candidate in the Ikolomani by-election, did not get a single vote at Shivagala Primary School polling station where the constituency ODM chairman Aggrey Shistama is a registered voter. The victor — New Ford Kenya's Bonny Khalwale — got 306 votes while Ford People's Collins Matemba got 68 votes. Local wags say the ODM's poor showing at the polling station can be traced to the decision by the party bigwigs who prevailed on Shistama not to vie for the seat and he was promised a parastatal chairmanship in return.

  1. FRUSTRATED STATE COUNSELS in mass exodus from the state law office.

There has been a mass exodus of state counsels from the state law office since the current sleeping AG's inauguration over a year ago.More than 35 state counsels have left the state law office due to poor working conditions to the slowly but gradually improving judiciary under the caring CJ.
The state counsels and more particularly those in stations work under deplorable conditions no transport means and where there is,it is only one vehicle shared by all departments which leads to uncalled for disputes amongst the Departmental heads, inadequate stationary and office equipments and sometimes they are forced to collect the same from the head office even those which generate income and trainings are a preserve of those in the head office and a few luck ones in the stations.
The officers complaints are always given a deaf ear by the AG who had given heavenly promise to his staff during his inauguration but immediately retired to slumber land in his state of the art Chambers at Sheria House.
There is no working morale in the AG'S office and if no action is taken to end such exodus of the state Counsels the state law office will soon be without state counsels .What is even more frustrating is the amount of money given in the form of A.I.Es which is too little to run a station for three months and it normally comes when the quarter is already over forcing some officers to run the office from their meagre salaries.MR.GITU WAKE UP OR QUIT TO SAVE THE STATE LAW OFFICE" WHAT SHALL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR.
