Corridors of Power

That Gachoka MP Mutava Musyimi is planning to contest the Presidency in 2012 is news that politicians are talking about in Parliament. Corridors overheard MPs making fun of the bid and dismissing it as a "joke". They claim the Gachoka MP has done nothing to prepare himself for the big seat, let alone consult his fellow MPs and constituents over the issue. Is Musyimi really serious?

A senior Cabinet minister has been complaining her daughter is being sexually harassed by her boss who manages an international organization based in Nairobi. The minister told a friend she does not know what to do because the man is also a close family friend and has previously funded her campaigns.

A pharmacist on Mombasa Road has been bragging about his connections and power to those who care to listen. The man of Asian decent claims to be heavily connected and is close to top Ministry of Medical Services officials. He recently told some business competitors that as long as he is alive, he will continue to supply medicine to public hospitals, KEMSA and department of Defence and they should not dare compete with him for tenders.
===A court in Kisii County was recently thrown into confusion when a man made a call to an FM station claiming that one of the courts was a den of corruption. Litigants and lawyers have indicated that a police prosecutor is the architect of corruption at the courts and was admonished during a closed-door meeting. Several murder and robbery with violence suspects have been released by the court on flimsy grounds and police claim a magistrate is bribed before releasing the suspects.
