Wamalwa is quitting Ford Kenya

Instead of attending the much awaited delegates conference at the Bomas of Kenya tomorrow, the MP will be hosting Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North Member of Parliament William Ruto in Bungoma.
The Saboti MP also declared he will not be seeking the party chairmanship against suspended Foreign Affairs Minister Moses Wetang’ula.
Wamalwa said even though he had paid the Sh1 million mandatory fee required from those seeking the Ford Kenya chairmanship, he had opted out of the race, and will not be demanding a refund of the same.
"The party has been hijacked by anti reformists who will be gathering at the Bomas of Kenya to confirm Wetang’ula as the chairman. I and my team will not be participating in any national elections," said Wamalwa, who was accompanied by former MPs Mukhisa Kituyi and Raphael Wanjala.
"The party never held grassroots elections because of squabbles but still some people gathered in some hotels drew lists of purported officials with intentions of confirming somebody to office," said Wamalwa.
He said he will be announcing his party of choice soon, but quickly reiterated that even if he was technically out of Ford Kenya whose ticket he would have used to vie for the Presidency, his dream for State House was still alive.

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the Ford Kenya rally to be held at the Posta Grounds, with about 60 MPs expected in the event. Luhya elders council chairman Patrick Wangamati had pleaded with Wamalwa not to abandon Ford Kenya, fearing that the move may further fragment the community.
‘As elders, we have tried to play our part to ensure that we maintain our unity inside Ford Kenya. We are appealing to our son Wamalwa and his followers not to go away because that will weaken our bargaining power even further," appealed Wangamati.
