The cutting edge

Missing CDs. An avid fan of popular singer Eric Wainaina, Jonathan Karanja, would like to know where he can get hold of the CDs for his popular songs, ‘Twende Twende’, ’Nchi ya Kitu Kidogo’ and ‘Daima Mimi Mkenya’ that he finds quite inspirational and patriotic. The video for ‘Nchi ya Kitu Kidogo,’ he says, is interestingly also not available on the popular YouTube. “Whoever knows where I can buy Wainaina’s music on CD should write to me,” says Jonathan, whose contact is karanjajon@gmail.com.

False promise. Zuku’s failure to honour its promises is quite frustrating, says Imaculate Wambui, who has been waiting, in vain, for several months. In January, she signed up for a broadband Internet connection and was only too happy to pay for it. However, the company has yet to deliver and her inquiries have only elicited unconvincing explanations about cables that have allegedly not been installed. “I now want my money back,” declares the disappointed customer, whose contact is immaculatewam@yahoo.com.

Report. While he was out of town recently, Brian Walker says his wife was admitted to Karen Hospital in Nairobi, treated and discharged after paying “a massive bill”. He was, of course, happy about the treatment she received and glad that she’s now back home recuperating. However, Brian is disappointed that the hospital has yet to issue him with a medical report on his wife, which he had been promised. “The report has not been forthcoming over 10 days since my wife left hospital. How much longer will this take?” asks Brian, whose contact is brianwal19@ovi.com.

Post box. The Postal Corporation has become synonymous with poor service delivery, says Melissa Wainaina, who has failed to get a mailbox at any of the post offices in Nairobi. Says she: “After applying and paying for it, they will keep you waiting for a long time. And they will actually encourage you to check every day at any of the post offices. I’ve often found myself wondering whether to bribe and get a box and the keys on the spot or wait for six months like everybody else.” Her contact is melissa@sikiliza-ink.com.

Murky river. Some horrible people have in the past one month or so been polluting the section of the Nairobi River that passes near State House, reversing the clean-up gains spearheaded by Environment minister John Michuki, reports a thoroughly disgusted Hellen Ooko. “Those who have been discharging raw sewage into the river can be easily identified and should be arrested and made to pay for it. In the past one month I have observed the clear water turn green and murky and every weekend, it gets worse, as the pollution takes place at night between Friday and Sunday.”
Have a beautiful day, won’t you!
