GEMA rejects Ocampo list

GEMA Cultural Association (GCA) has rejected the list of suspects for post election violence released by International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor Moreno-Ocampo saying it was manipulated to serve a hidden political agenda.
The association's patron and former Defence Minister Mr Njenga Karume said GEMA was shocked at the inclusion of the names of Deputy Prime Minister Mr Uhuru Kenyatta and the Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura in the list as key suspects.
He said it was now clear that ICC was playing politics with the post election violence because Kenyans know the suspects yet they are not in the list.
Karume said GEMA community would stand by Uhuru and Muthaura and asked them not to be shaken because they had done nothing wrong and that truth will eventually come out.
The association encompasses Kikuyu, Embu and Meru communities
He said Ocampo has confirmed the fears of the GEMA community that there would be no justice at ICC as the victims have now been branded the victims.
"We reject this list totally. We know our sons Uhuru and Muthaura were not involved. We know who committed the atrocities they are not in this list. It is obvious that ICC is playing politics and is intent on destroying the names of Uhuru and Muthaura,'' said Karume.
Karume was speaking at the home of the later Senior Chief Koinange Wa Mbiyu in Kiambaa, Kiambu county on Saturday during a ceremony to mark 50 years of his death.
Uhuru was the chief guest during the occasion where he maintained his innocence saying he had done nothing wrong and was afraid of nothing including ICC. He said he was ready to defend himself at The Hague when called upon to do so.
He was accompanied by assistant ministers Lewis Nguyai and Ferdinand Waititu and MP's Jeremiah Kioni (Ndaragwa) and John Mututho (Naivasha).
